Best Practices

Projects are one of the more complicated parts of Freejna, but can provide opportunities for engagement and participation at a very high calibre.

Projects in Freejna are of two types:

  1. Construction projects, public works and infrastructure projects, in which case a Freejna project will let a community follow the development, understand what is happening and take part in public consultations. Example projects would be the ‘Arab Gulf tunnel roadworks’, or ‘Abu Dhabi Airport Midfield Terminal’
  2. Initiatives and social projects, where the focus is on participatory activities and events that span a period of a few weeks to a year and follow a specific theme. For instance, ‘Year of Tolerance’ or ‘Ramadan community volunteering’.

In both cases, projects can act as a ‘container’ for as polls, announcements, public consultations, and other content in Freejna. This makes it possible to provide a cohesive story narrative that can be seen and followed, and participated in by members of your community.

How Projects work

Projects in the Freejna app show up under a separate tab, where users can access each project’s timeline. Additionally, the content associated with a project may also show up in the neighborhood’s timeline.

Best Practices

  • When creating a project, be sure to place relevant details in the description and various fields.
  • Make sure to link projects to neighborhoods affected by the project
  • If project is huge and affecting a lot of neighborhoods, it is recommended to create a project for each neighborhood or area, and dedicate a team for each part of project to follow up with updates and interactions. E.g: “Abu Dhabi Parks – Khalifa City”, “Abu Dhabi Parks – Main Island”.
  • Keep the statuses and photos of your project updated as the project goes along. And keep users updated with announcements, news and updates to keep them interested in the project.
  • Use official accounts to communicate with your community to give them the feeling of responsibility and interest.
